Born Clinton Harrison Vorce, changed name to Clinton Henry Vorce when he joined the Catholic Church to marry Anna.

"I took a trip to Hot Springs in July of 1990. I went with my mother (Mary Antonita Vorce), her sister Roseann and her brothers, John and Jim. Also, Roseann's husband, Jack; John's wife, Dorothy; and Jim's wife, Joan. There were eight of us and we had a great time. The purpose of the trip was to first visit relatives in Minnesota (my maternal grandmother's family). Then we wanted to see Hot Springs. My grandfather (Clinton H. Vorce) owned a meat market there with his brother Roy. It was called "Vorce Brothers Meat and Groceries."  Clint was a very important person there in Hot Springs. He was a business owner, a fireman, a school board member, and a father of six.  They closed the businesses and the schools when Clint died, March 13, 1934. Everyone in town went to the funeral. Even the fire trucks were in the funeral procession."

Born in Venis Nebraska, moved with family to Hot Springs, SD abt. 1900. Collie and her husband, Otis Hopkins worked for the Army at Igloo. After Otis died, Collie worked for the Navy as a teletypist for 18 months in Hawaii. When Collie left Hawaii she moved to Illinois in 1946 to be near a friend, Margaret Gunn. Margaret died of cancer in 1948. Collie remained in Illinois.

In Feb. 1976, Collie wrote a letter to her niece, Roseann Vorce Redmond. Parts of this letter are included here:

"I have learned that my mother and father were farmers and really lived a rugged life, and had so little that it was pitiful. As Roy said our folks never discussed their lives with us and my father had paralysis for 18 years. It was caused by a sun stroke working a thrashing crew on a very hot day. The farmers then did not have the machines to do that type of work as they do today. Most of the work was done by horses. They walked behind a plow drawn by horses. The farmers lived a very rugged life, but they really helped each other, and really never complained of their hardships."

"My father was a very kind man, never scolded us. I remember he drove to Pringle, a village not too far from Hot Springs to get me a pony to ride. He was good to all of us, and would try to help do things or chores around the home."

"After I read Roy's letter in regard to the hardships my mother and father lived, it really made me ill, and also of other relatives too. And how I wished I had never caused her (mother) the headaches that I did, and I could have been more help to her." The farmers certainly lived a rugged live, and you think how could they survive as long as they did. They plowed in those days with horses, and walked miles and miles at a time. But they always had plenty to eat and my mother certainly had a large garden. Do you recall the strawberries we had when we lived on College Hill? She also was a wonderful seamstress. made all my clothes, and crocheted, and quilted too. Never idle a minute. They had too, in those days..."
